Welcome to the peak of mountain adventure – the High Country.
The NC High Country is comprised of the small towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro and Sparta, North Carolina.
This region encompasses the true mountains of North Carolina, more miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway than any other region and is known for outdoor adventure and cultural heritage.
Swiss Mountain Village is centrally located just a short drive from everywhere YOU want to be – ski slopes, hiking trails, cycling trails, river sports – you name it.
Appalachian State Football
Boone is home to the Appalachian State Mountaineers – three-time Division 1A national champions and currently topping the Sunbelt Conference. Swiss Mountain Village is a short drive from the best in college football action. Relax in our cabins, enjoy tailgating and cheer on the Mountaineers.
Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a ribbon of road that weaves through the region’s vibrant living traditions. From Cherokee life and agricultural history to Southern Appalachian crafts and music, the Parkway’s 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina offer many ways to explore rich traditions. Swiss Mountain Village sits almost directly on the Parkway and is a stone’s throw from some of the most popular stops along the way — Moses Cone Manor, Price Lake and Grandfather Mountain.
Millions of visitors enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway each year. Some think of it as just a motor road or a pleasant drive. But the Parkway is also a place of varied and significant natural resources. Text courtesy of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation
